I have been a member of SPOTC since the 70’s. I have taught the Household manners class, but when agility started I found my true calling. I am a retired high school teacher, horse trainer and riding instructor. I have always loved teaching—whether it be animal or human, and teaching agility is a wonderful combination of team work.
I’ve been competing in agility since 2005 and my dogs have achieved 30 Agility Championship titles. I have also put Barn Hunt, Rally and Obedience titles on my dogs.
I have my own agility training business, in addition to teaching the SPOTC Agility Classes. I have owned and trained Dalmatians, Miniature Schnauzers, and a Toy Poodle. Lager, one of my Schnauzers, has achieved the highest agility title that AKC offers—the Agility Grand Championship.
My favorite part of being an agility trainer is seeing the incredible bond that forms between the canine/handler teams. When my students compete for the first time, it is obvious how they feel that rush of pride, excitement, and accomplishment. It only takes a single trial for students to get hooked on this amazing sport.
“Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of training a variety of dog breeds from the tiniest Russian Toy to the huge Leonbergers. I pride myself in focusing on the fact that each handler and canine team learns in different ways
and at different rates.”
