Dana has been training dogs since she was 12 years old when she taught her German Shepherd to climb a ladder to get on the roof of her house. She started training for SPOTC back in the 70’s and titled her first Doberman in Obedience in 1977. She has previously taught Conformation, Puppy, Sub Novice (Beginner Novice level), Novice (CD level), Household Obedience, Farm Dog Certification, and Canine Good Citizen classes and is currently teaching Scent Work classes.
Dana has served SPOTC and sister club Heart of the Plains Kennel Club (HPKC) as a Board Member, Training Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and is currently President of both clubs. Dana is also the trial secretary for SPOTC’s Obedience trial, as well as HPKC’s Scent Work and Barn Hunt trials. Dana is approved to judge/evaluate CGC, FDC, the AKC Temperament Test, and is an Agility Course Test evaluator.
Dana lives with her husband, Vernon, and four Doberman Pinschers that she shows in Obedience, Rally, Agility, Barn Hunt, Scent Work, FastCat, and Conformation and has put over 140 titles on her dogs.
“My favorite part of dog training is when the students take the graduation exercise, and they have that light bulb moment when they realize how far they have come with their dogssince they came to the first class.”
